Last night around midnight, I had the craving for cinnamon rolls. Not just regular cinnamon rolls, but the oooey, gooey, Cinnabon types, loaded with cream cheese and cinnamon. I've had a recipe in my possession for quite some time that I look to for these types of occasions. So today, before I had to set out for work, I devoted my time to cinnamon rolls. Typically, I love to bake at home alone, something about it, maybe surprising the husband when he gets home, or maybe the opposite, I don't want people to be around when I drop flour all over the floor, or the dough doesn't rise. Nonetheless, it's fun- except when you decide to photograph the process. I took images of most of the steps so it's easy for anyone to roll these bad boys up.
*A NOTE ABOUT THE FROSTING: After trying the rolls, I think adding 1-2 more ounces of cream cheese will make the frosting less sugary, which I prefer.
Mix dough, then let rise.
picture of dough risen, the first time.
roll out dough, spread butter
sprinkle brown sugar/cinnamon mix
roll up dough, cut, and place in pan
set up ingredients for frosting
mix cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, milk, vanilla
bake at 350 degrees for 15-20 minutes
spread frosting over warm rolls
After several hours of prepping and baking, it was finally time to have my reward. Yummy cinnamon rolls with earl grey tea.
