house of hollin is live!

Hello everyone!  As you may or may not know the husband and I are moving back to California at the end of August.  So... this means that House of Hollin (tumblr) is back online with more items!  We will be posting more items throughout the months.  It does get tricky since we are in Montreal.  So if you're in the states and you want an item shipped to you, we can do that!  Or.. if you don't want to pay the exorbitant shipping costs, we would gladly move the item to California and ship it from there - you would just have to wait until the end of August for that to happen...

While in my 18th and 19th century women's writers course, my professor quickly mentioned the Shaker culture.  While I was familiar with it, I hadn't realized that my one of my favorite furniture styles was actually from the Shaker culture.  I would love to one day have a Shaker style kitchen.  Here's a few photos of some of my favorite inspirations.  Apparently Amazon has quite a collection of Shaker books, if you want to check them out!  I think I might...

fab.com round-up

This past March I visited some friends whom you may recognize from their wedding photographs and video feature the husband and I did last summer.  I decided I wanted to do some fun photographs of their dog, Lily.  She's a French Bulldog - and very cute.  Also, their house is amazing. Look at all those awesome colors and details!

After screen-capturing the wonderful details of Joan Harris' apartment from Mad Men, I decided to look more closely at some other tv show apartments.  Another fantastic apartment comes from Fox's New Girl, particularly Cece's apartment.  Unfortunately there have only been a couple of scenes in her apartment, but the color and decor is pretty great.  Gotta love the mint walls, mid century furniture, and vintage knick knacks.  Does anyone have a favorite TV show apartment?  I'd love to find more!
