I really love this promo done by seattle native, Christian Sorensen Hansen for XXX typography magazine. Just having made a cup of coffee this morning, this video really starts off the day nicely. Happy Sunday, everyone.

oscars 2012
Well, so much for blogging more. Luckily - I have an excuse this week. I won't go into the details but I definitely had a weird health problem spring up, plus I slipped and fell on the ice and hit my head and ankle. But, everything is okay now! So, sorry, sorry... I am late in posting this. I had planned to blog about this the day after the Oscars, but I guess I must have forgotten to post it. Being in Canada with no cable tv can prove to be difficult. Like, watching the Oscars. I didn't get to see them, but I watched some clips and found it enjoyable enough. These are some of my favorite dresses. I wish I had seen the pre-show to scope them all out in person, but I liked these ones floating around the internet the most. Which was your favorite?

the new thing in cooking videos
My husband decided he wanted to do a cooking video series of vegetarian recipes for his food blog, Eating for the Rest of Us. Soon he'll have a pretty amazing pizza video up (hopefully by the end of July). However, upon browsing videos, he stumbled upon the most AMAZINGLY BEAUTIFUL video recipe I have ever seen. It's imperative that you watch it.

les amour imaginaires
The Montreal film, by young (as in, 1989 born) director, Xavier Dolan, was released this week to the general public. Living in Montreal, I saw posters of this movie in metro tunnels across the city. The imagery of the film is beautiful and it is evident that Dolan was inspired by In the Mood for Love. I still haven't seen the film, but I'm hoping I'll get the chance to soon! The English title of the film is Heartbeats.

the curve of forgotten things
A short film featuring the new Rodarte line, starring Elle Fanning. It's not so much a "film" as it is a pretty girl walking around Southern California while her clothes change. But, still fun.

fun music video
I'll be one to admit that even though I absolutely love Zooey Deschanel's incredible voice, I can't say I'm the biggest fan of her music. I honestly wish that M.Ward would put more of his song-writing skills into action. However... It's always fun to watch their music videos, with their usual fun dance moves. This particularly new video has some great 60s set design! I'm a fan.

mrs. bean's famous nutmeg ginger apple snaps
I stumbled upon this the other day, and thought it was just incredible! You know how you'll be watching a cartoon or some sort of animated picture and you notice the food and just how cute and delicious it looks, like the ratatouille in Ratatouille (of course that was designed by the Thomas Keller.....). Well, If you've seen Fantastic Mr. Fox you know that it's chock full of all sorts of beautiful and delicious imagery, especially Mrs. Bean's Famous Nutmeg Ginger Apple Snap. Kari's version is incredibly close looking to the apple snaps in the film. I cannot wait to try these! I think next year I want to have a Fantastic Mr. Fox dinner, perhaps to start off the Fall season. Anyone with me?

Did anyone see Black Swan? I saw it, and even though I technically didn't find it incredible (you can hate me if you want), I thought the costuming was beautiful, and then after I found out Rodarte did Natalie Portman's ballet costumes, well, I wasn't surprised. They are feather-wonderful.

After discovering these ballet/pilates type workouts, and the Black Swan costuming, I got inspired to check out other beautiful ballet photos. Here are some of my favorites.

and another
Sorry, another video post. But I couldn't help it! I found this here and was SO obsessed with it, at least the first part. The guy with the piano, I don't know what that's about. But the first part, holy amazing! I really want to do a photo shoot inspired by that. I don't know part, any part.
in the sun
So here is the new music video for She & Him. Now really, tell me what you think. What I think? I think the best parts were M. Ward reading a magazine in the library, and then on the phone in the hall.

french theatres
I found this on Cafe Cartolina. Amazing vintage puppet theatre from France.
It reminds me of one scene in Charade, found on this video, if you start halfway into it.

fashionable movies part 2
This movie comes out tomorrow. AV Club rates it an A- and by the looks of it, the clothes aren't too bad either.

"are you kidding me" awesomeness
That title is a little complicated. What I mean is, "are you kidding me?" "how is this so cool" type of awesomeness. Space15twenty opened a Where the Wild Things Are pop-up and by all means, absolutely amazing. Their Flickr shows countless photos of the space construction process and the opening reception. SEE IT.

garage voice in pdx
A few days ago, Eric and I spent our Portland days shooting a band (and good friends of ours) around Portland. We took our inspiration from La Blogotheque, making each song one take only. These are the first two songs we've finished, and I must say, I am kind of addicted to them. Visit Garage Voice.

casey warren=amazing wedding videos
If I had known Casey Warren was based in Seattle, I definitely would've added him into the photographic team of Ben Blood: photographer, Vanja: Hasselblader, Paul Hoppe: Super 8er. If I hadn't gone with Super 8, I definitely would've gone with Casey. And if I could've had everything for my wedding, I would've had them all capture the wedding. This wedding is one of my favorites that he's photographed. It is completely different than most wedding videos you would see. The quality is unbelievably amazing. Bravo!

fashionable movies
This first movie seems potentially awesome since it is a musical version of Frederico Fellini's 8 1/2. Even though I am not a fan of musicals, I did like Chicago pretty well, and this, no doubt, is the director of Chicago.
This second movie, Lying, does not give you any hints as to what the movie is about. I have a feeling I am not going to see this, but doesn't the trailer look like it's an ad for Urban Outfitters or Top Shop?

taste of tea
By far one of the funniest, heartwarming Japanese films I've ever seen. Although I'll admit that I don't have much to reference on. Taste of Tea is one of those movies that just makes you feel good. It's the Japanese Amelie with a much different plot. It also has a fantastic soundtrack, and I've had tried several times to locate it, but the one or two sites I've pinpointed were in Japanese so I didn't want to order since I couldn't read the characters. I will include two clips. One is of the trailer, that has a amazing song in the beginning. Plus the original "Mountain Song." I'm also including the "Mountain Song" clip as well. This song became famous during my wedding weekend, as I made many of my friends sit and watch the clip multiple times until we were all singing "Ya-my-oh....ya-my-yo.."
