ballet exercises

It's been a long time since I've last exercised.  A long time.  In preparation for her summer wedding, my friend, Edna, has been vigorously exercising and staying healthy, and her hard work has given me new determination to be healthier and hopefully shed some fat.  One type of exercise Edna introduced me to was Ballet Beautiful, a exercise program that uses Ballet techniques.  After finding this, I started looking at other Ballet-Pilate type exercises and found some free videos.  Not only do the exercises seem challenging, but they also look graceful and frankly I think it just looks like a whole lot of fun to try.  Although the giant tutu does seem kind of appealing, I'll probably skip it when first trying these exercises.

You can see some of the exercise moves on this ABC interview.

Did anyone see Black Swan?  I saw it, and even though I technically didn't find it incredible (you can hate me if you want), I thought the costuming was beautiful, and then after I found out Rodarte did Natalie Portman's ballet costumes, well, I wasn't surprised.  They are feather-wonderful.

After discovering these ballet/pilates type workouts, and the Black Swan costuming, I got inspired to check out other beautiful ballet photos.  Here are some of my favorites.

cat chalet

I stumbled upon a pretty cool website, while looking up Montreal designers.  It featured several Montreal specific products varying from fashion to home products.  One of my favorite items on there was the Cat Chalet by Loyal Luxe.  Purchase it here!  Like an Ikea home for your pet, you can assemble this cardboard house in easy steps.  It comes with super cute toys and cardboard fancies for your cat to attack.  I love this thing, and am tempted to buy it for fat little Weasley, as long as she can fit through the hole.

midnight haircut

It was around midnight last night, after hours of painting, trying out our new chalkboard wall in our kitchen, and setting up decorations, did I realize that I could no longer stand my frizzy, split ended, dread-locked hair.  I decided to at least cut my bangs... and then before I could realize, I tied my hair in a pony-tail and chopped it off.  I can't say that the back is straight, or even if the layers are symmetrical.  I had an idea in mind of a hairstyle (from Fudge magazine).  It didn't turn out.  Instead my hair looks exactly like my sister's.  But that's okay.  We're in two different countries now, so no one will get confused.  Also, the outfit I'm wearing in the picture is an entire outfit that she also owns.  I am pretty much my sister at this point. =)

lazy days.

This is what we do when it rains in Portland.
It's a lot of hot beverages, movies, and lying around.

And my hot date.

weekly wish list.

I am going to start having weekly wish lists.  At least when I remember.  This way I will get all of this wanting out of my system, and hopefully that will prevent the needing, then, buying.

 1. The Sartorialist

2. Spaced Complete Series

3. Mini flower pots from King Arthur

4. Anka Jacket from Anthropologie

5. Sequin Pencil Skirt from Free People

cannon beach

Eric and I went to Cannon Beach today.  It was a lot of fun, except the weather was below 70 degrees so it was quite chilly for a day at the beach.  But still, fun to be had.
